Use Line 4 from central Paris, including Saint-Michel, Châtelet and Gare du Nord. Get off at Denfert-Rochereau.
- Central Paris
- Denfert-Rochereau
- No surface traffic
For the Paris Catacombs, go to the visitor entrance at Place Denfert-Rochereau. This guide covers Metro and bus routes, airport and station connections, the correct entrance, luggage rules, accessibility and the separate exit.
Metro 4, Metro 6 and RER B all stop at Denfert-Rochereau. Use the station exit, then confirm the avenue before joining any queue.
Use Line 4 from central Paris, including Saint-Michel, Châtelet and Gare du Nord. Get off at Denfert-Rochereau.
Use Line 6 from Montparnasse, Bir-Hakeim and other left-bank stops. Change only if it gives you a simpler route.
RER B serves Denfert-Rochereau directly. It is the clearest rail connection from Charles de Gaulle Airport and parts of central Paris.
These are the bus routes listed for the Catacombs area. They suit visitors already near a stop on either route.
Walking works well from the Denfert-Rochereau and Montparnasse areas. From farther central districts, Metro is usually easier before a timed entry.
Ask for 1 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy, Place Denfert-Rochereau. This helps avoid arriving near the separate exit on Avenue René-Coty.
RER B reaches Denfert-Rochereau without a central Paris transfer. Do not schedule a timed entry around your flight landing time.
The route is one way. Reaching the Catacombs area does not mean you are at the correct door.
The visitor entrance is on Place Denfert-Rochereau in the 14th arrondissement.
Some guided products meet away from the visitor entrance. The meeting instruction, not the attraction name, controls where you go.
The circuit ends at 21 bis Avenue René-Coty. Set the entrance address before travelling, not the exit address shown on a map after other visitors finish.
Line 4 is useful from central Paris. Line 6 is useful from Montparnasse and the west. RER B links the airport and rail corridor.
Use Line 4 when starting near Gare du Nord, Saint-Michel or Châtelet.
Use Line 6 when it avoids an extra change from the left bank or Eiffel Tower side.
RER B stops at Denfert-Rochereau and avoids a city-centre interchange.
Use the RATP journey planner for live routes. Check service notices on the day, especially during engineering works or major events.
The listed routes are 38 and 68. Use the live planner to confirm stops, diversions and service before setting off.
Use route 38 if it gives you a direct surface journey. Check the live stop and direction before boarding.
Use route 68 when it suits your starting point. Allow for road traffic and use the stop display to track progress.
Buses can be diverted. Confirm the current route with the RATP journey planner on the day.
These are planning patterns, not guaranteed timings. Use live service information before travel.

RER B is the direct public-transport connection to Denfert-Rochereau. A taxi is simpler with luggage.
The RER B station is the useful airport connection because Denfert-Rochereau is on the same line.
Show the driver: 1 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy, Place Denfert-Rochereau, 75014 Paris.
Border control, baggage collection, airport walking, the rail journey and the final approach all take place before entry. Drop luggage first where practical.
Do not leave the station to search for a bus unless live routing tells you to.
Check that Denfert-Rochereau is on the route before boarding.
At Denfert-Rochereau, head to Place Denfert-Rochereau and 1 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy.
Large junctions, traffic lights and the wrong side of Place Denfert-Rochereau can make a short map route longer.
This is the simplest final walk. The station and visitor entrance share the same square area.
Walking is possible from the wider Montparnasse area, but crossings and street orientation can slow the approach.
Getting to Denfert-Rochereau is one task. Parking and the final approach are separate tasks.
Use 1 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy, Place Denfert-Rochereau. Keep the address visible for the driver.
Choose and verify a public car park before leaving. Then plan the walk to the visitor entrance.
Traffic controls, bus lanes and loading rules can prevent a driver from stopping exactly at a map pin.
The Catacombs are not accessible to wheelchair users or visitors needing step-free access. The circuit has 131 steps down and 112 steps up.
Confirm lift status at your origin, any interchange and Denfert-Rochereau before travelling.
A nearest station does not guarantee the exit you need is step-free on the day.
The circuit has 243 steps in total and uneven underground passages.
The visit is not recommended for people with motor disabilities, cardiac insufficiency or respiratory insufficiency.
Bag rules affect whether you can enter. Check them before leaving your hotel or arriving from the airport.
Bags must be carried at the front or held at the side during the visit.
Suitcases, large bags and motorcycle helmets are prohibited. There is no cloakroom or luggage storage.
Eating and drinking are forbidden on the visitor circuit. Personal photographs are allowed without flash or tripods.
Save your timed ticket, visitor entrance address and any guided meeting-point instruction before leaving. A screenshot helps if mobile service is weak or your inbox is slow.
The Catacombs operate with timed entry. The route takes about one hour, and the last admission is at 19:30.
Reaching the station is not the same as reaching the entrance and completing entry procedures.
A guide may meet at another point. Follow the time and location on the latest voucher.
Street names are more reliable than a distant landmark or a generic attraction map pin.
This is the visitor entrance address. It confirms you are on the correct approach for the Catacombs.
The entrance sits at Place Denfert-Rochereau, close to the Metro and RER station.
This is where the one-way circuit ends, not where visitors begin.
Metro Lines 4 and 6 and RER B all use this station.
A guided product may name a meeting point that differs from the general visitor entrance.
A correct route only helps if it ends at the right door, with the right ticket, at the right time.
Use the date and entry time in your latest ticket message, not an old calendar note.
Set 1 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy, not the separate René-Coty exit.
Review RATP service information on the day for closures, works and diversions.
Keep bags within 40 × 30 × 20 cm. Leave suitcases and large bags elsewhere.
Keep a screenshot of your ticket and any guided meeting instruction on your phone.
You may need it for tickets, route changes and contact details at the meeting point.
Use 1 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy, Place Denfert-Rochereau, unless your guided voucher states another meeting point.
For most visitors, use Metro 4, Metro 6 or RER B to Denfert-Rochereau. Buses 38 and 68 also serve the area.
Allow time for the station exit, the final walk and entry procedures. Guided tours use the meeting time on the voucher.
